A controversial change in Helldivers 2 prompted an apology from the studio’s CEO.

Helldivers 2: Following a backlash from the community over a seemingly minor change to Helldivers 2, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios apologized to fans on Friday.

The game’s CEO Shams Jorjani acknowledged the need to give more context to the stat instead of surprising the audience with it in the official Discord.

During the recent Escalation of Freedom update, some fire-based weapons, such as the Breaker Incendiary, were nerfed. Recoil and magazine sizes were reduced, and flame effects were adjusted to make them more realistic. As a result, the game will include more incendiary weapons when Freedom’s Flame Warbond is released.

In order to improve the usability of unpopular weapons, Arrowhead developers are committed to improving weapon balance.

In a Discord conversation, Jorjani addressed the fact that Breaker Incendiary was being heavily utilized in approximately 30% of terminid sessions. This sparked discussions about its potential impact, as game balance is an ongoing effort. Some players were dissatisfied with the adjustments, claiming it took away from the enjoyment and was poorly timed before a fire-themed event. These players also brought up comments from game director Johan Pilestedt regarding unpopular balance changes. Additionally, some criticisms have been directed towards Arrowhead for downplaying complaints by attributing them solely to a minority of players.

A Redditor shared findings from a Discord survey indicating that the majority of players disapproved of the recent update or had no opinion on it. Helldivers 2 on Steam has received negative reviews following the update and is currently rated as “Mixed” in recent reviews. Some members are suggesting boycotts of the game.

In an acknowledgement of a previous blunder earlier this year, Jorjani took responsibility for the failure, shifting the blame from the designers.

Discord has been added as a feedback form for players.

Helldivers 2 has received an update that contains improvements to Stratagems, the galactic map, lobbies, and more.

An extensive patch note was released with patch 01.000.400 on Thursday. There are balance changes to weaker stratagems, such as the Orbital Gatling Barrage receiving upgrades, including increased fire rate, more rounds, improved armor penetration, and shorter cooldown periods. There is a slight reduction in fire rate and a shorter reload time for the MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun, which now deals 150 projectiles, down from 100.

On June 18, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive a free update with additional suits for Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

Insomniac Games revealed eight new suits on its PlayStation blog, including four that were designed by fashion designer Colm “KidSuper” Dillane and celebrities. KidSuper designed one of these suits, the “Metro Suit,” with three different color variations and a top that resembles a puffy jacket.

In a positive light, Replaced draws comparisons with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Developed by Ninja Theory, Hellblade 2 boasts visually stunning combat and stunning set pieces that leave a lasting impression. With pixel art, Replaced will achieve a similar effect to Hellblade 2.

With impressive trailers shown at gaming events, I was eager to try it out during Summer Game Fest Play Days. Now that I have, I’m eager to see what more this adventure has to offer, possibly even surpassing Square Enix’s HD-2D RPGs.
